Fred Jackson's connection to our hometown runs deep. A lifelong resident of Lake Forest, he has spent nearly five decades working for the Lake Forest Parks & Recreation department. From his humble beginnings umpiring games at 15-years old to retiring as the department's director, Fred’s commitment to improving the community is legendary. In 2001, the Friends of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Foundation named the tournament in his honor, celebrating both his dedication and his vision for the future of the LF Parks & Rec department. The event has raised nearly half a million dollars, becoming the foundation’s largest fundraiser and a tribute to Fred’s lasting impact. “The idea is to laugh and have fun,” says Fred Jackson about the golf tournament that bears his name.
